While You Wait Portrait Studios specialise in family and individual portraits and have some of the most up-to-date technology to help you create a treasured keepsake.

And now, using the new Virtual Backgrounds System, a method of optical front projection, with digital capture, you can choose or help create a background that While You Wait Portrait Studios can use to personalise your portrait.

An option for photographers who still have slides. If you have a favourite slide or photo of a family bach or perhaps want to re-create a scene from an overseas holiday, simply bring it in and using the Virtual Backgrounds System, this image can be projected to a screen that you can sit or stand in front of to create your own customised portrait; using a print will take longer as it has to be turned into a slide first. Previews of your portrait are available immediately and can be created to almost any size.

It is not just family portraits that can be created this way - advertising posters or brochers are also far more economical to produce using the Vitual Backgrounds System as location costs can be cut from the equation.

As While You Wait Portrait Studios owner Phil Teague explains, front projection systems have been in use overseas in large studios for many years, but this new redesigned system for working with digital cameras is a vast improvment and is a great step forward for image making in Christchurch.
"I am very excited by the options available when using this system," explains Phil. "There is unlimited potential with this equipment that has not yet been realised in Christchurch."

As well as portraiture work, While You Wait Portrait Studios also produce photographs for inclusion in Curriculum Vitae's, passports and for business portraits  and can provide images on disc and as well as in print format.
